A video capturing an Australian construction worker catching some Z’s in a barbershop chair has taken the internet by storm.
Billy, a regular at Barber Industries in Kotara Westfield, Australia, was getting his hair and beard trimmed on Wednesday when exhaustion caught up with him. Barber Jordan Magasiva explained that despite Billy’s initial cheerful demeanor, the day’s toil soon caught up with him, prompting him to doze off.
Noticing Billy’s fatigue, barber Jess sprang into action, providing him with a headrest and reclining his chair for added comfort. The haircut proceeded seamlessly, lasting around 30 minutes before Billy slipped into a deep slumber.
From 3 pm onwards, Billy was out like a light, emitting audible snores that filled the barbershop. Meanwhile, the bustling business continued around him, with families and children arriving for their appointments.
In an act of kindness, the staff ensured Billy’s comfort by placing a towel over his head to shield his eyes from the light.
It wasn’t until nearly 6 pm that Billy stirred from his peaceful nap, looking slightly sheepish but undoubtedly refreshed. Upon waking, his first question was about the time, before bidding farewell to the staff and departing.
The viral clip has garnered significant attention online, amassing over 7.6 million views on social media platforms.
Some viewers couldn’t resist making light of the situation, joking about parking fees and missed calls upon waking up. However, many praised the hardworking nature of Australia’s tradespeople, highlighting their underappreciated contributions to society.
Mr. Magasiva shared that it’s not uncommon for patrons to doze off during haircuts, and the staff’s response varies depending on the circumstances. He expressed satisfaction with the video’s reception, noting that it resonated with viewers who empathized with the universal experience of hard work and fatigue.
