Barbara Cramer, a 75-year-old employee at McDonald’s, has spent an impressive 53 years working at the iconic fast-food chain and has no intentions of retiring anytime soon.
Originally from New Jersey, Cramer began her McDonald’s journey in 1970 after initially applying for a job with the school board. However, upon being offered a position by Ronald McDonald himself, she eagerly accepted, citing her love for the environment.
Throughout her tenure, Cramer has worked at various McDonald’s locations, but her heart has always remained with her original spot in Fort Pierce, Florida.
Interestingly, she even met both her first and second husbands while working at McDonald’s, cherishing the memories made over the years.
Recognized by her coworkers as the “McLegend” for her unwavering commitment to the establishment, Cramer was recently honored with an anniversary celebration on December 20th, 2023. Despite the festivities, she made it clear that it wasn’t her retirement day, emphasizing her plans to continue working for the foreseeable future.
Reflecting on her decades-long career at McDonald’s, Cramer became emotional, expressing that her time at the fast-food chain has meant “everything” to her.
The owner of the Fort Pierce McDonald’s, Ricky Wade, commended Cramer’s dedication during the celebration, describing her as a valued member of their family.
While Cramer doesn’t foresee full retirement in the near future, she does intend to transition to part-time work, considering herself “semi-retired” as she continues her journey with McDonald’s.
